A long tradition of environment and sustainability awareness and efforts.

The traditionally small bio-grease industry really only started moving with the implementation of the Swedish Standard (SS 155470) mainly in the Nordic countries. Then the US Vessel General Permit (VGP) followed, becoming the main growth driver focused primarily on products for the marine industry and then spreading into products for total loss applications. As EU Ecolabel grew, we accelerated the development of our two spearhead product technologies for marine and agriculture to build knowledge and experience in the process.

Traditionally, lubricants for farming equipment have been developed primarily to protect moving metal components rather than for their environmental or toxicological impact. However, there is now increasing awareness that lubricants used on farming equipment are often lost to the environment which can in turn impact the food being cultivated. There is growing recognition that such lubricants should be formulated to reduce their impact on both the environment and the food even before it reaches the processing plants. An example of this equipment is a round baler or a large baler machine producing fresh bales of rolled up grass. The most common types of baler are rectangular or cylindrical.

This year the STLE annual meeting and exhibition was held in Nashville – Music city. The event offered more than 500 technical papers, education courses, market forums and a trade show, all related to the world of tribology and lubrication. In other words an excellent opportunity to get insight into technological advances, requirements and trends, meet peers within the industry and get information and ideas for future tasks. In spite of the lyrics from the household name Dolly Parton, the AXEL delegation, with members from the technical department and product management teams, spent considerable time to improve in addition to the stipulated 9 to 5 work hours.
